Our Founder
My name is Diego Molea, and I am the founder of this initiative. I have always had a love for plants and nature. Growing up in Coconut Grove, I frequently got to explore on my own, riding my bike to Cocowalk and beyond, enjoying the fresh air and pleasant shade. I felt I was incredibly lucky and greatly enjoyed the life I had. However, when I biked even just one mile down the road where I lived, I saw things change drastically. The tree canopy I had grown to love was gone, and instead, the harsh sun shone down on me and the residents of the neighborhood. There were significantly fewer people out exercising or walking, and people seemed less active. I found it incredibly unfair that people, even just a few minute's drive from me, did not get to enjoy the same privileges I had. Upon looking into the issue, I realized that the cause of this was much deeper than I had anticipated. Factors like racism, segregatory housing practices, and a lack of investment in these neighborhoods were all major reasons. That is when I realized that if no one else seemed to realize the issue, then it was up to me to make a difference.
